Red-necked Buzzard, Buteo auguralis, is a bird of prey in the family Accipitridae that breeds across Africa from Sierra Leone to Ethiopia, Uganda and Angola. It was described by Salvadori in 1866. It is found in western and northern central Africa, and it favours forest edges and clearings, including those in secondary and primary forest, as well as cultivated areas. A key feature is the rufous neck, which extends over the crown and onto the upper back, with blackish upperparts and white underparts marked by a dark throat and flank blotches.
