Coryphospingus cucullatus (Müller, PLS, 1776)

Red Pileated Finch, Coryphospingus cucullatus, is a passerine bird of the tanager family that breeds in South America, in north-eastern, south-central and west-central areas. It occurs in a broad spread of countries across the eastern side of the Andes, with separate populations in dry valleys and in the Guianas and northern Brazil. It is linked with dry forest, moist lowland forest, dry shrubland and heavily altered former woodland. The male shows a red crest and black crown, while the female lacks those features and has a white throat.
