Red-rumped Parrot, Psephotus haematonotus, breeds in south-eastern Australia. It is a parrot of open woodland and other grassy places, and it also uses paddocks, fields, parks and gardens. The adult male has the red rump that gives the bird its name. The species shows strong differences between the sexes, with the female mainly greyish olive-green and paler below, while the male is chiefly green and gold with blue on the wings. It was described by Gould in 1838.
