Red Siskin, Spinus cucullatus, is a finch of northern South America, breeding in north-east Colombia, northern and western Venezuela, and southern Guyana. It is a small bird with a distinctive red-and-black male, while the female is grey above with a red rump and upper tail. The species also includes paler immature females and brown immature males. It lives in open country, forest margins, and grassy areas with scattered trees or shrubs, and it feeds on seeds. It is native to tropical South America and has become very rare in a broken range.
