Red-spectacled Amazon, Amazona pretrei, is a parrot that breeds in south Brazil. It is also found in Argentina and Paraguay. Its range includes the frontier area between southern Corrientes in Argentina and Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil. The bird uses subtropical and tropical dry forest, moist lowland forest, moist montane forest, dry savanna and plantations. It moves seasonally from northern Rio Grande do Sul to south-eastern Santa Catarina to feed on the seeds of Brazilian Pine. It is a quiet species with a relaxed disposition.
