Red Spurfowl Galloperdix spadicea lives in India and Nepal, mainly in forests and scrub with plenty of cover, including dry and moist deciduous woodland and hilly country. It is a pheasant relative with a long-tailed, partridge-like shape and a reddish-brown overall look. The face carries bare red skin, and the legs bear one or two spurs. It is often difficult to spot because it keeps to undergrowth, though it can be seen briefly when it bursts out. Its call is distinctive, and it roosts in trees.
