Red-tailed Laughingthrush, Trochalopteron milnei, is a bird of the Oriental Region, breeding from Myanmar through southern China to central Vietnam. It belongs to the laughingthrush family Leiothrichidae and was first described by David in 1874. It is a montane forest species, living in broadleaf evergreen woodland, especially in the lower layers. Its range also includes Laos and Thailand. Four subspecies are recognised, with forms recorded from north Myanmar, south China, south Laos, southeast China and northwest Fujian.
