Red-tailed Newtonia

Newtonia amphichroa

The Red-tailed Newtonia is a small passerine bird found in the forests of Madagascar. It is characterized by its striking red tail and olive-green upperparts. This species is known for its melodious and varied song, often heard in the dense undergrowth. Red-tailed Newtonias forage for insects and small invertebrates in the forest canopy and understory. They are typically found in pairs or small groups and are known for their agile and acrobatic flight. Although not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and degradation pose potential risks to their populations.
