Red-throated Parrotfinch

Erythrura psittacea

The Red-throated Parrotfinch is a small, brightly colored finch found in the forests and woodlands of Southeast Asia. It is known for its vibrant plumage, with males displaying a striking red throat and green and blue body, while females have a more subdued coloration. These social birds often form small flocks and are known for their melodious calls. They primarily feed on seeds, fruits, and insects. Due to habitat loss and trapping for the pet trade, the Red-throated Parrotfinch faces conservation concerns in some parts of its range.
