Anthus cervinus
The Red-throated Pipit is a small passerine bird found in open grasslands, marshes, and tundra habitats across Europe and Asia. It is characterized by its streaked brown plumage, with a distinctive red throat patch in breeding males. These birds are known for their undulating flight and melodious, trilling song. Red-throated Pipits forage on the ground for insects and seeds, often using their long hind claws to perch on grass stems. They undertake long migrations, wintering in southern Asia and Africa. Although not currently considered globally threatened, habitat loss and agricultural intensification pose potential threats to their populations.
