Red-throated Rock Martin, Ptyonoprogne rufigula, is a passerine in the swallow family that breeds across Africa from Sierra Leone to Eritrea and Ethiopia, then south to Zimbabwe and northern Mozambique. It was first described in 1884 by Fischer and Reichenow. The bird was once treated as part of the large rock martin, but is now recognised separately. Three subspecies are accepted: pusilla, bansoensis and rufigula. Its range extends from west Africa through the east of the continent into the south-east, making it a widespread African martin.
