Cacatua haematuropygia (Müller, PLS, 1776)
Red-vented Cockatoo, Cacatua haematuropygia, is a cockatoo of the Philippines, breeding mainly in the Palawan group and the Sulu Archipelago in the south-west and south of the country. It was once spread across the whole archipelago, but now survives chiefly in those areas, with smaller remnant groups on the Polillo Islands, Bohol and Samar. It is set apart by the red feathers around the vent. The species was described by Müller, PLS, in 1776.
