Red-winged Starling, Onychognathus morio, is a starling found in eastern, south-eastern and southern Africa. It is closely tied to cliffs and other rocky places for breeding, but it has also taken to towns and cities where buildings offer similar nesting sites. The species is a generalist feeder and takes a wide range of plant and animal food. In the male, the flight feathers are chestnut and stand out strongly in flight, while the female has a grey head and upper breast. It nests on ledges in cliffs, outcrops and gorges.
