Cinnyris rufipennis
The Red-winged Sunbird (Cinnyris rufipennis) is a small, colorful bird found in the woodlands and savannas of sub-Saharan Africa. This sunbird is known for its striking plumage, with the male displaying iridescent green and red colors on its head, throat, and chest, while the female has more subdued olive and yellow plumage. These birds are nectar feeders and play an important role in pollination. They are often seen darting between flowers with their long, curved bills. Red-winged Sunbirds build intricate, hanging, purse-shaped nests using fine plant material and spider webs. They are generally common within their range and are not currently considered to be at risk.
