Rhynchotus rufescens
The Red-winged Tinamou is a medium-sized bird native to South America. It is known for its cryptic plumage, with mottled brown and black feathers providing excellent camouflage in its forest and grassland habitats. This species is primarily ground-dwelling and has a secretive nature, making it challenging to observe in the wild. The Red-winged Tinamou feeds on a variety of seeds, fruits, and small invertebrates, using its strong legs and bill to forage on the forest floor. While not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and hunting pose potential risks to its populations.
