Reichenow's Seedeater

Crithagra reichenowi (Salvadori, 1888)

Reichenow's Seedeater, Crithagra reichenowi, is a finch found in eastern Africa, with a breeding range from Ethiopia and Somalia to southern Tanzania. It occurs in dry forest, dry savanna and dry shrubland. It was once placed in Serinus, but later moved to Crithagra after genetic studies showed that the earlier genus did not form a natural group. It has also sometimes been treated as the same species as the black-throated canary.
