Ichthyaetus relictus
The Relict Gull (Ichthyaetus relictus) is a small to medium-sized gull species found in Central Asia. It is easily recognized by its pale grey plumage, white head, and distinctive black markings on its wings. During the breeding season, it nests on barren, stony islands in saline lakes and feeds on small fish, invertebrates, and insects. In winter, it migrates to coastal areas and estuaries. The Relict Gull is known for its strong association with inland saltwater habitats and is often found in close proximity to human settlements. Despite facing threats from habitat loss and disturbance, its population is currently stable.
