Accipitridae — Kites, Hawks, Eagles

Reunion Harrier, Circus maillardi, is a bird of prey in the Accipitridae family that breeds on Réunion in the Mascarenes. It is confined to that Indian Ocean island, and fossil material from Mauritius has been linked to it. Locally it is called papangue or pied jaune. The Malagasy Harrier of Madagascar and the Comoro Islands was once treated as part of this bird, but is now increasingly regarded as separate.
