Ringed Storm Petrel, Hydrobates hornbyi, is a seabird of the Humboldt Current from southern Ecuador to north-central Chile, and it breeds in the Pacific Ocean region of the Atacama Desert in northern Chile, mostly in mountains about 85 km inland. It was first described by Gray in 1854. A striking feature of this storm petrel is its dark cap, white face and underparts, forked tail and black band across the chest. It belongs to the family Hydrobatidae in the order Procellariiformes. The name honours Admiral Sir Phipps Hornby.
