Ringed Teal

Callonetta leucophrys

The Ringed Teal is a small, brightly colored duck found in South America. It has a distinctive black and white ring around its eyes, and its plumage is predominantly gray with a chestnut patch on its wings. This species is known for its sociable nature and can often be found in small flocks. Ringed Teals prefer wetland habitats such as marshes, ponds, and lagoons where they feed on aquatic plants and small invertebrates. They are considered to be of Least Concern by the IUCN, with stable populations across their range.
