Myrmotherula fluminensis Gonzaga, 1988

Rio de Janeiro Antwren, Myrmotherula fluminensis, is a passerine antbird found in south-east Brazil, where it is endemic. It was described by Gonzaga in 1988. The bird is known from the holotype and only a handful of later records, and its status has been treated in different ways by different authorities. It has been recorded in central Rio de Janeiro state and at Reserva Ecológica Guapiaçu, in disturbed woodland and secondary forest near old clearings. The adult male shows a whitish eye-ring and line below it, grey upperparts, darker wings, a grey tail, and black on the throat, breast and centre of the belly.
