Rio Orinoco Spinetail

Synallaxis beverlyae Hilty & Ascanio, 2009

Furnariidae — Ovenbirds

Rio Orinoco Spinetail, Synallaxis beverlyae, is a passerine in the ovenbird family, breeding in Venezuela and eastern Colombia. It was described in 2009 by Hilty and Ascanio and is the only member of its type. The bird is tied to the Orinoco River, where it has been recorded in the delta and middle reaches in Venezuela, with Colombian records treated as unconfirmed by some authorities. It lives in scrub on river islands and nearby banks that flood seasonally. Its exact links within Synallaxis are unresolved, though it is thought to be nearest to the dark-breasted spinetail.
