Rock Bush Quail, Perdicula argoondah, is a galliform bird of the Phasianidae family that breeds in India, especially across the western half of the country and in peninsular regions. It lives in arid country with scrubby grassland and thorny bushes, and is seldom recorded above about 600 metres. Three subspecies are recognised: argoondah from Madhya Pradesh to Tamil Nadu, meinertzhageni in northwestern India, and salimalii in parts of Karnataka. It is often seen in small coveys and may flush suddenly from cover. A key feature is the longer outermost primary feather.
