Columbidae — Pigeons, Doves
Rock Dove, Columba livia, is a pigeon in the family Columbidae and breeds worldwide through introductions, with a native range from southern Eurasia and northern Africa to India. It is the wild form behind the familiar domestic pigeon, and escaped domestic birds have given rise to feral populations across the world. In nature it uses open and partly open ground, and it roosts and breeds on cliffs and rock ledges. The wild bird is pale grey with two black wing bars, and males and females look much the same.
