Rock Pipit

Anthus petrosus

The Rock Pipit (Anthus petrosus) is a medium-sized bird found along rocky coastlines and in coastal marshes of Europe and western Asia. It is characterized by its streaked brown plumage, pale underparts, and a slender bill. Rock Pipits are often seen foraging for invertebrates and small crustaceans in the intertidal zone, and they have a melodious song that they use to establish territories during the breeding season. They build cup-shaped nests on the ground or in crevices and lay a clutch of speckled eggs. Despite facing threats from habitat degradation and human disturbance, the Rock Pipit population is currently stable.
