Rock Shag, Leucocarbo magellanicus, is a cormorant of the southern coasts of South America, breeding along coastal south Chile and south Argentina to Cape Horn, with colonies also on the Falkland Islands. Outside the breeding season it moves north to coastal south Brazil. It is a marine bird that nests on ledges on steep, bare rock faces. The species was first described in 1789. It is placed in the family Phalacrocoracidae and the order Suliformes.
