Roraiman Nightjar

Syndactyla roraimae

The Roraiman Nightjar (Syndactyla roraimae) is a small, cryptic bird species found in the tepui highlands of South America. This nocturnal bird is characterized by its mottled brown and gray plumage, which provides excellent camouflage against the rocky and mossy surfaces of its habitat. Roraiman Nightjars are insectivorous and are known for their distinctive calls during the night. They are often found perched on exposed branches or rocky outcrops, where they hunt for flying insects under the cover of darkness. Due to their remote habitat and elusive nature, Roraiman Nightjars are relatively understudied.
