Pyrrhura rhodocephala (Sclater, PL & Salvin, 1871)

Rose-crowned Parakeet, Pyrrhura rhodocephala, is a parrot of the Psittacidae family that breeds in north-west Venezuela. It was first named by Philip Sclater and Osbert Salvin in 1871. Endemic to the Andes of the Cordillera de Mérida, it occurs from Táchira to Trujillo. Its range is limited to montane forest, degraded former woodland, farmland with scattered trees and forest margins, from 800 m to 3,100 m, mostly between 1,500 m and 2,500 m. It is recognised by its bright red cap, white primary coverts, blue primaries and red tail, with the sexes looking alike.
