Sterna trudeaui
The Roseate Tern (Sterna trudeaui) is a graceful seabird known for its slender body, long pointed wings, and deeply forked tail. This species has a black cap that extends to the nape, a rosy blush on the underparts, and a slender, sharp bill. Roseate Terns are highly social and often form large colonies for breeding on coastal islands. They are skilled aerial hunters, diving into the water to catch small fish and squid. This species is known for its distinctive 'kik-kik-kik' call. Roseate Terns undertake long migrations, traveling from their breeding grounds in the northern hemisphere to wintering areas in the southern hemisphere.
