Rosenberg's Nightjar

Nyctiphrynus rosenbergi

Rosenberg's Nightjar is a small nocturnal bird found in South America. It has a cryptic plumage that provides excellent camouflage during the day. This species is known for its distinctive call, a series of sharp, repetitive notes that are often heard at dusk and dawn. The nightjar feeds on flying insects, which it catches in mid-air using its wide gape and bristles around the mouth. It nests on the ground, laying its eggs directly on the substrate. Despite its widespread distribution, this species is relatively poorly studied, and more research is needed to understand its ecology and conservation status.
