Rosy-billed Pochard

Netta peposaca

The Rosy-billed Pochard is a medium-sized diving duck found in South America. It has a distinctive pink bill and a dark head with a contrasting pale body. This species is often found in freshwater lakes, marshes, and lagoons, where it feeds on aquatic plants, small invertebrates, and occasionally small fish. The Rosy-billed Pochard is known for its strong diving abilities, using its webbed feet to propel itself underwater in search of food. While not currently considered globally threatened, habitat loss and hunting pressure in some areas have led to localized declines in population.
