Rosy Thrush-tanager, Rhodinocichla rosea, is a passerine of its own family, Rhodinocichlidae, found from western Mexico through Middle America into South America, including Venezuela. It was first described in 1832. The species is a slim bird with a broad rounded tail and a long downcurved bill, giving it a look that recalls a mockingbird or thrasher. It is split into five subspecies, with separate ranges rather than one continuous spread. Across its range it lives in dry to semi-dry woodland, scrub and secondary growth, and in Venezuela also in damper semi-deciduous woodland.
