The male has a distinctive black mask and white throat. This species is often found in open grasslands, agricultural fields, and savannas, where it forages for seeds and insects. Ruddy-breasted Seedeaters are known for their acrobatic displays during courtship, where the males perform elaborate flight and song routines.
