Ruddy Spinetail

Ruddy Spinetail, Synallaxis rutilans, is a passerine of the Furnariidae and breeds in Amazonia in South America. It lives in the undergrowth of terra firme forest and also uses tropical lowland evergreen forest. The species is a resident all year. It is closely allied to the stripe-breasted spinetail and chestnut-throated spinetail. Seven subspecies are recognised, with marked variation in plumage, especially between the nominate form and omissa. Its nest is a globe of twigs with a side tunnel, and the clutch contains three to four eggs.
