Rufescent Antshrike, Thamnistes rufescens, is a passerine bird of the antbird family found in eastern Peru and western Bolivia. It was described by Cabanis in 1873. Its range runs from south-east Peru to western Bolivia, where it lives in lowland and lower montane evergreen forest and nearby secondary growth. It is usually seen in the forest canopy and subcanopy. The bird has a stocky build and a heavy bill with a hooked tip. Adults show a bright ochraceous face, olive-brown upperparts, a rufous tail and cinnamon-rufous wings, with males carrying a bright orange-rufous patch between the shoulders.
