Rufescent Flycatcher, Myiophobus rufescens, is a passerine of the tyrant flycatcher family that breeds in western South America, in western Peru and northern Chile. It was first named by Salvadori in 1864. The bird is a resident throughout the year. It occupies open country, including woodland margins, secondary growth, pasture and desert scrub. In Peru it occurs from sea level up to 2,700 m, while in Chile it is recorded only to about 500 m. It is fairly common in Peru and rare in Chile.
