Rufous Babbler

Argya subrufa

The Rufous Babbler (Argya subrufa) is a small, sociable bird found in the forests and scrublands of South and Southeast Asia. It has a distinctive rufous-brown plumage with a white throat and belly. This species is known for its melodious and varied songs, often heard in the early morning and late afternoon. Rufous Babblers are highly social and often forage in groups, feeding on insects, small fruits, and seeds. They build cup-shaped nests in dense vegetation and are known for their cooperative breeding behavior. Despite being relatively common in its range, habitat loss and fragmentation pose threats to its populations.
