Rufous-backed Solitaire

Myadestes ralloides

The Rufous-backed Solitaire is a medium-sized thrush found in the highland forests of Mexico and Central America. It is known for its striking rufous back and tail, contrasting with a gray head and underparts. This species is often solitary and elusive, foraging for insects and berries in the dense undergrowth. Its haunting, flute-like song can be heard echoing through the misty cloud forests where it resides. The Rufous-backed Solitaire plays a vital role in seed dispersal and maintaining the ecological balance of its habitat.
