Rufous-backed Stipplethroat, Epinecrophylla haematonota, is a passerine antbird of South America, breeding from south-eastern Colombia and southern Venezuela through eastern Ecuador, northern and eastern Peru, and western Brazil. It was first described by Sclater in 1857. The species is part of the Thamnophilidae and is now placed in Epinecrophylla. Its range covers terra firme evergreen forest, with the fjeldsaai subspecies also recorded in transitional forest and, in smaller numbers, várzea forest. It is a year-round resident, and the nominate form occurs in eastern Peru and adjacent Brazilian states.
