Rufous-banded Tit-Spinetail

Leptasthenura striolata

The Rufous-banded Tit-Spinetail is a small, slender bird found in the Andes of South America. It has a distinctive rufous band across its chest and a long tail with white tips. This species is often found in high-altitude cloud forests and montane scrub habitats, where it forages for insects and spiders in the dense vegetation. The Rufous-banded Tit-Spinetail is known for its high-pitched, trilling song and its agile, acrobatic flight as it moves through the forest understory. Although not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and fragmentation are potential future threats to this species.
