Rufous-bellied Niltava

Niltava oatesi

The Rufous-bellied Niltava is a small passerine bird found in the forests of Southeast Asia. It is characterized by its striking rufous underparts and dark upperparts, with the male having a glossy blue crown. This species is known for its melodious and varied song, often heard during the breeding season. Rufous-bellied Niltavas forage for insects and berries in the dense undergrowth, using their agile and acrobatic flight to capture prey. They are known to be monogamous and build cup-shaped nests in the forest canopy. Despite facing habitat loss and fragmentation, the Rufous-bellied Niltava is still relatively common within its range.
