Rufous-bellied Seedsnipe, Attagis gayi, is a bird of the Andes in South America, breeding from montane northern and central Ecuador south to Chile and Argentina, as far as southern Santa Cruz Province. It belongs to the family Thinocoridae and the order Charadriiformes. It is a high-altitude species of alpine ground, often near the snow line, and also uses boggy and other damp places as well as drier, stonier terrain. One Ecuadorian subspecies is restricted to seven high volcanoes, while other populations range more widely through the Andes.
