Hirundinea ferruginea
The Rufous-bellied swallow is a small passerine bird found in South America. It is characterized by its distinctive rufous-colored underparts and dark blue upperparts. These agile birds are often seen in open areas, including grasslands, savannas, and agricultural fields, where they catch insects on the wing. They construct cup-shaped mud nests under overhangs or in human-made structures. Rufous-bellied swallows are known for their acrobatic flight and are often observed in small flocks. Their populations are currently stable, and they are not considered at risk of extinction.
