Rufous-breasted Accentor, Prunella strophiata, is a passerine of the Himalayas in the Oriental Region, where it breeds in temperate forest. It occurs across Afghanistan, Bhutan, Tibet, China, India, Myanmar, Nepal and Pakistan. In winter it moves to lower and middle elevations. Edward Blyth described it in 1843 from a specimen collected in Nepal. The species is placed in the family Prunellidae, and its name refers to a breast band. Two subspecies are recognised, with one in east Afghanistan and the western Himalayas, and the other from the central and eastern Himalayas to central China and northern Myanmar.
