Rufous-breasted Bush Robin

The Rufous-breasted Bush Robin, scientifically known as Tarsiger johnstoniae, is a small passerine bird found in the highlands of Taiwan. It is characterized by its striking rufous-colored breast and white belly, with a slate-blue crown and upperparts. This species is known for its shy and elusive nature, often found foraging on the forest floor for insects and small invertebrates. The Rufous-breasted Bush Robin inhabits dense montane forests and thick undergrowth, where it can be observed flitting between branches and hopping along the ground. While its population size is not well-documented, it is believed to face threats from habitat loss and degradation. As a result, its conservation status is currently listed as Vulnerable by the IUCN.
