Rufous-breasted Chat-Tyrant

Ochthoeca rufipectoralis

The Rufous-breasted Chat-Tyrant is a small passerine bird found in the Andes of South America. It is characterized by its rufous-colored breast, gray head, and olive-green upperparts. This species is known for its melodious and varied songs, often heard in the montane forests and shrubby areas where it resides. Rufous-breasted Chat-Tyrants are insectivorous, foraging for insects and small invertebrates in the dense vegetation. They are known for their agile and acrobatic flight as they capture prey. While not currently considered threatened, their habitat is increasingly fragmented due to deforestation and agricultural expansion.
