Rufous Bristlebird

Amalocichla incerta

The Rufous Bristlebird (Amalocichla incerta) is a secretive and elusive bird species found in the dense undergrowth of coastal heathlands and shrublands in southeastern Australia. It is known for its distinctive rufous plumage and long, slender bill. This medium-sized bird forages on the ground for insects, spiders, and seeds, using its strong legs and sharp bill to probe through leaf litter and dense vegetation. The Rufous Bristlebird is known for its complex and melodious song, which is often heard during the breeding season. Despite its secretive nature, conservation efforts are being made to protect its coastal habitat from urbanization and habitat degradation.
