Rufous-browed Antpitta

Grallaria guatimalensis

The Rufous-browed Antpitta is a small, terrestrial bird found in the mountainous regions of Central America. It is characterized by its rufous crown and eyebrow, as well as its olive-brown upperparts and buffy underparts. This species is known for its shy and elusive behavior, often foraging on the forest floor for insects and small invertebrates. It prefers dense, humid montane forests with thick undergrowth and is often heard before it is seen, as it produces a distinctive, resonant song. The Rufous-browed Antpitta is considered a species of least concern, but habitat loss and fragmentation pose potential threats to its populations.
