Neomorphus rufipennis
The Rufous-capped Antthrush is a medium-sized bird found in the understory of humid forests in South America. It is known for its distinctive rufous cap, olive-brown upperparts, and white underparts. This species is primarily insectivorous, foraging on the forest floor for invertebrates. Its haunting, flute-like song is often heard in the early morning or late evening. The Rufous-capped Antthrush is secretive and elusive, making it challenging to observe in the wild. Although not currently considered globally threatened, habitat loss and fragmentation pose potential risks to its populations.
