Rufous-capped Nunlet, Nonnula ruficapilla, is a bird of western and southern Amazonia in South America, with a breeding range in Bolivia, Brazil and Peru. It belongs to the Bucconidae family within the Piciformes. It lives in the undergrowth and lower canopy of several forest types, including terra firme, secondary and transitional forest, riverine forest and igapó. It is often linked with bamboo, especially dense growth near river margins, and in wooded hills it is frequently found beside streams. Four subspecies are generally recognised, and the nominate form was described by Tschudi in 1844.
